As a conclusion, giving up Manglish for good is futile. However, learning when to use it and when not to is not an impossible feat. We must learn to discipline ourselves at times as to make sure we speak proper English, the language the majority of all English speakers can comprehend.

That is an excerpt from a short article (?) I wrote on Malaysian English. It's something different than what I usually write. That's why of all the essays and articles I wrote this year for some purpose or another, this is my favourite. Credits to Elson for the topic.

My brother came back from Australia a while back. He's a lot different than before. He told my mum and I that the best way to prevent unwanted hair fall is to shave your head.

My brother a while back

My brother after his new realization

He told us that while we were buying shampoo at Tesco today. His hair has grown back, so he wasn't left out.

The first picture was the only proper picture of him available before his new 'hairstlye'. Don't ask me why his eyes aren't open. I don't know either. He would murder me if he saw the first picture.

Yup. That's all

For all you people who congratulated me, thanks, I appreciate it. Though really, looking at it in one way, its not an award, its a job. Quote : "Right now you would be all happy and excited, but next year...". And that's what makes me more nervous/worried than happy. Wish me luck, anyways.

Good luck for SPM

Though really, anyone taking SPM wouldn't be reading this at this point of time.

Yes, that's my father

This is a random story

I remember my father telling me a true story.

Before I tell you the story, let me introduce the characters.

Aunty Jane (not her real name)
Pa (not his real name either)

Aunty Jane is my extremely talkative aunt. Pa is my father (yes, I call him that)

My aunt lives somewhere oversees (far away), so whenever she calls, it usually an unearthly hour at night for us here in Malaysia.

One day, my aunt called our house. Since my mum was asleep, my father picked up the phone. My aunt started talking to him. And just kept on talking and talking and talking without stopping. After awhile, my father needed to go to the bathroom. However, he couldn't manage to stop her. So he put the phone aside and went to the bathroom quickly.

When he came back, she was still talking normally.

On another occasion, she called late at night and my father was half asleep. While talking to her, he dozed off. He awoke to find his sister-in-law still talking on and on.

Maybe you find this to be fake, but then again, if you talked to my aunt, you would never doubt that it's true.

Time flies

Today was awesome. After 3 crappy weeks of crappy problems, finally, a good day.

I wrote the above line on Friday, the last day of school. But then I got lazy and stopped blogging.

Anyway, remembering why the day was awesome......

Well it wasn't the fact that is was the last day of school. I will miss form 1. Met nice people, got involved in things I like doing, didn't have any major mess ups.

Anyway, it was an awesome day because of three awesome (unexpected) people who were kind enough to help me. Just that simple act made my day many times better. Thanks, Xin Jing, Yi Rou and Aziza.

Then the day became even more awesome-er when I recieved the 2nd place medal for Chess in the hall. Xin Yen got first (she totally beat the living daylights out of me. No one stood a chance. She's way too good for any of us.) and Naeem got 3rd.

After that, we had reccess. The day grew awesomer-ish, Shaan was kind enough to give me a pack of Twinkies (or is it Twinkles?). Shared it with Sue, Alim, Xin Yen, Preveena and Jac who happened to be nearby when I opened it. I remember, when I was about to give Sue her share, Preveena had taken her second helping and I noticed the pack was empty. Just as I was about to ask her not to eat it, she ate it. The timing of it made me laugh.

Afterwards, there was no duty, so I wandered around the school with Alim and Sue for awhile. They insisted on taking pictures, so we did. Unfortunately, no samples here. Yet. (They say a picture says a thousand words. I'm pretty sure I can do a thousand words. Maybe later)

Once reccess was over, we went to the hall.

Shonia: Thank God you're here! Go arrange chairs (well, she didn't say those exact words, but these were the words that were interprated by my brain)
Luke: ???

We carried the benches to the back.

Another awesome part of the day: As I was struggling to carry a bench by myself, a random form 2 guy named Wy Keat (I remember) offered to help me carry the bench. Y'know, all these small things make me happy. Thanks dude. He didn't even have to, but he did.

After all the struggles of moving chairs and benches, the 'majlis' for the retiring teachers began.

I can't honestly say I will miss the two teachers retiring, since I do not really know them.

But the performances were awesome. 2 Teratai's and 1 Kenanga's performance is a personal favourite. All of the performances were overall awesome. Tong Hua was nice, and Soo Ling's solo performance was amazing as usual. There were many more, all of them nice.

To sum it up, the day was awesomely awesome. Will never forget it.

For the sake of repetition: AWESOME

Freedom

This would be my 48th post. Frankly, I'm just not the kind of guy who blogs frequently.

I guess one of the reasons I actually keep this blog is for a sort of diary where I could look back when I'm older. Like, when I'm an old grandpa, I could tell my grandkids:

"You know, when I was your age, I used to have this crappy redundant blog I never really updated properly. Looking back though, it reminded me of all the things I did when I was young. Now if only it could tell me where I put my glasses...."

To which the kid replies : "What's a blog?"

Of course, this would never happen. By the time I'm that old, the world would have most probably come to a catastrophic end. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Anyway, its that time of the year again. The time to reflect on all the things that have happened and decide whether I could consider it a good year.*1 Then again, its barely December yet. I'll put the reflecting on hold.

At this point of time, I am listening to Octavarium by Dream Theater. Dream Theater isn't on the top of my list of Favourite Bands, but Octavarium is something worth listening to. By the way, it's 24 minutes long. I don't really bother listening past the 13th minute though. Go listen to the first thirteen minutes.

Yup that's all.

*1 No, it's not that time of the year to wash my socks....
