Since there are people buggin me to update this blog, I shall, even though it has been updated a week ago (or has it?)
Here's a story I read when I was young (younger than this at least). It's one of those stories with those kind of morals. I can't remember it much, so I've edited it. A lot.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far-far away, there lived a king. Let's call him Ali. King Ali had this very trusted advisor who was named Abu. One day, King Ali and Abu were on a boat going to this island. On the boat, there were 4 'workers'*1 who had to row the boat.
On the way to the island, Ali and Abu fell asleep. While asleep, the workers began complaining to each other.
"You see those two fatso's sleeping! We here have to work so hard while those lazy bums get to doze off!"
"Yah lah! This isn't fair wan! How come they get to relax while we have to work!? What makes them better than us?"
Unknown to them, King Ali wasn't really sleeping. He had heard all that they had said, and so decided to teach them a lesson the next day.
When the group had reached the island, it was late at night, so they decided to set out camp. Everyone slept, including the workers. Early in the morning (like, really really early), the king awoke. He then proceeded to wake up his 4 workers, asking them to go out for a walk with him. The workers complied and followed. The king's advisor, Abu, remained asleep.
While walking, the king started talking to his workers about this really special dog which was famed for saving people etc. The dog (let's call it Lassie) was vacationing on the island. The king asked his workers to run off, find the dog and tell him what breed was it.
And so the workers ran off, found the dog and its owner and returned the king.
"So did you find out what breed is it?" The king asked.
"Yah, it's a Mongrel" One of the workers replied.
"Ok, good. Do you know what colour it is?"
"Uh, no. Let us go and check." So they ran off to find the dog.
They returned a while later, panting and tired.
"Did you find out?" The king asked,
"It's white in colour with brown spots" One of the workers replied.
"You know, I heard this Lassie dog has puppies. Do you know how many puppies it has?"
"Lemme go and check." And they ran off again.
A while later, the four workers returned, exhausted.
"So?"
"It has 5 puppies..."
"What colour are they?"
At this point the workers nearly keeled over and died.
"Nak pengsan sudah...." one of the workers whispered to another.
The workers ran off again, then came back.
"3 of the puppies are white with brown spots, like it's mother. 2 of them are just brown."
"Ok, good work. That is enough. Now, let me show you something." The king said. They returned to camp where the advisor was still sleeping. The king woke up the advisor and asked him to follow them for a walk.
"You know, Abu, there's this really special dog on the island today. Can you find it and tell me what breed it is?"
And so Abu ran off. He returned a while later. He brought the dog and its litter.
"Just in case....."
So the moral of the story is....Well I don't know. You go and find it yourself. I didn't actually expect you to read any of it anyway.
*1 I do believe the correct term is 'hamba'
